A Vision for Dunnville: Listening, Growing, and Thriving Together
I believe that the best leadership starts with listening. Dunnville is built on deep community roots and incredible grassroots energy, and my primary goal is to ensure those voices drive our local government.
Throughout my career as a C-level executive, I have specialized in relationship and business development, complex contract negotiations, and - most importantly - finding common ground. I know how to bring different stakeholders to the table to get things done. I want to put that practical, collaborative expertise to work for Ward 6 and Dunnville, ensuring our County listens to you and delivers results that protect our way of life while building for the future.
Here is my commitment to our community:
Preserving Our Community Spirit & Quality of Life
Dunnville’s community spirit and our small-town charm are two of our greatest assets, and they must be protected. The lifeblood of this town is the people who step up to help. I am committed to officially recognizing and supporting the dedicated volunteers, service groups and charities who pour their time into our local events and organizations. I am also dedicated to bringing their and your voice to the forefront of Haldimand County.
Furthermore, we need to invest in our youth and families. A major priority of mine is securing a dedicated water recreational feature for our children - a safe, accessible place for kids to play, cool off, and build memories right here in town. We also need a long term solution to our aging outdoor pool. I can’t promise an indoor pool but I can promise that I will bring your voice to the table and scrutinize every document from staff. I will support all community initiatives that want to enhance our recreational activities in Ward 6 and Dunnville.
Part of my commitment to Quality of Life also means that everyone needs to be able to participate. Recently I joined in a Community Conversation with several Dunnville residents and Haldimand County municipal candidates. What came across loud and clear was that we needed to do better at the municipal level to ensure our sidewalks and parks are accessible for those who have mobility issues. That means accessible all year round - not just during the warm months.
Strengthening Our Local Economy
Our local business owners and our hospital are the backbone of Dunnville’s economy, and valuing their hard work and resilience is central to my plan. They are a core strength we must protect.
At the same time, Dunnville needs more job creation opportunities so our residents - especially our younger generation - can work where they live. Relying on my background in business development, I will actively work with the County’s Economic Development team to prioritize attracting new, right-sized businesses that align with our community values, driving job growth without compromising our town’s identity.
Maximizing Our Natural Tourism Potential
We are incredibly fortunate to be situated on the Grand River and Lake Erie. We need to better market our local tourism and recreational activities tied to these stunning waterways. By strategically promoting our natural assets for boating, fishing, and recreation, we can draw vital tourism revenue that directly supports our local shops and restaurants, turning our geography into an economic driver. Haldimand County has an Economic Development and Tourism department. We need them to focus more on Ward 6 and Dunnville and I’ll work on that. Out of all the towns in Haldimand County, we are the only one gifted with the mouth of the Grand River connecting us to Lake Erie. Let’s put that to work for Ward 6 and Dunnville.
Prioritizing Community Safety & WELLBEING
A thriving community is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Recently, I’ve heard of some concerns regarding local crime and defacing of our wonderful downtown businesses. Being safe and improving community safety is a fundamental priority. I will advocate fiercely through our OPP/Haldimand County police board for the resources we need, while also supporting community led safety initiatives to ensure all residents feel secure in their homes and neighbourhoods and help keep our downtown area welcoming for everyone.
Let’s Grow and Thrive Together
Dunnville is already “Community Strong” but we can do more. Dunnville has incredible potential. Unlocking it requires local leadership that prioritizes Dunnville, listening to its people, helping Council understand our potential so we can effectively direct County staff, and valuing our community’s grassroots strength. By working together, we can build a more prosperous, safer and highly connected Dunnville.
